Mealy Redpoll
Common Redpoll
This is from St Mary’s and it was taken by me, on my flash card but with Vee’s camera! Thanks for the loan of the camera
A day out with no plan, just following the front of the (Alan’s) car. Starting at Cresswell, where there was no sign of any Bitterns or Snow Geese (although they had been seen elsewhere) or Glossy Ibis. We did however see thousands of Pink-footed Geese, two Curlew Sandpipers, a brief Kingfisher, a Peregrine and a Merlin.
Moving on, we went to Chevington Pools, where we managed not to see the Slavonian Grebe, that was being watched as we were looking at the pool! From here it was on to Alan’s patch in the hope of seeing the Pallas’s Warbler that was said to be elusive, well I can confirm that it was very elusive; two very brief views of the bird in the time we were there.
The birding wasn’t fantastic today, but the birders were out in force.
