I fared a little better today with the Red-necked Grebe…

…and in the absence of suitable habitat, Snow Bunting have been known to use the next best thing…

…I did, however, fail miserably at finding Hawfinch at Morpeth. Apparently they are still there, I’ll just have to go back!

It's the timing imo Richard, best times appear to be either 09:20-10:00 or 14:30-15:30. The two birds I saw this afternoon arrived from the east at 14:45ish and circled around a fair bit before presumably coming down ( I had to leave).

I always seem to have that trouble; I either pull out too early or stay too late, got me into alsorts of bother did that!!!

I'll just have to go back, it's a year or two (2006 to be exact) since I saw Hawfinch in Northumberland
