Another case of work getting in the way of life, that was Saturday. So Sunday, I was determined to make the most of it!

Out of the house by 5am, I went first for the Spotted Crake that never was. I wish I had known in advance who had claimed it, I would have missed out this early morning visit to Druridge!

So next I went to Chevington for the Marsh Warbler. Walking down the path I followed Dave into the site and he pointed out where the bird had been, and there it was singing now, but not to be seen. So I whipped out my equipment, missus, and started recording. Eventually the bird came up and showed very well, a Sedge Warbler! The bird was doing some pretty good impressions; Linnet, Goldfinch, Swallow, Reed Bunting and sometimes it even did Sedge Warbler. Apart from the background Reed Warbler, every thing in this recording is Sedge Warbler…

On the way back, this Common Whitethroat performed nicely and then not to be out done a Lesser Whitethroat had a go as well.

I called into Druridge and had a chunter with Andy and then acting on some info went inland.
Garden Warbler perched out in the open belting it out…


…and after a bit of a slog around, this Cuckoo showed very well. In  fact so well that if I had taken my camera I would have got some cracking shots!

While following the Cuckoo, a Curlew did it’s stuff.
