News filtered through last night of a Stilt Sandpiper at Low Newton. This brought on the now familiar headless chicken routine, until I remembered that I had other commitments and I couldn’t make the trip…
So, today, I have to go to work (I’m one of the few up here who still has to) and I can’t get up there till late afternoon. Eventually I’m on my way and it’s a race with a thunderstorm. I break free of the storm near Alnwick and into nice weather. Arriving at the pools, the bird is immediately on view and all of the pressure is off. It’s a stunner!
